Regarding Playlists Not Loading

Hey Everyone,

I’ve been getting lots of messages lately regarding playlists not loading.  Rather than emailing everyone individually concerning this issue, I figured it was best to publicly update everyone at once.

For the last several weeks, the Tumblr API has been experiencing all kinds of issues, the most common being very long bouts of downtime.   It’s something that is fairly well-known, and it is a very real source of problems for people who do development with the Tumblr platform.  Because trntbl creates playlists from your tumblelogs, it relies heavily on the Tumblr API. For the most part, when the Tumblr API is down, so is trntbl.

However, there have been instances lately where certain playlists will play, and others will not.  I’ve investigated this issue extensively, and have come to the conclusion that it is another set of issues plaguing the Tumblr API that I cannot control.  I’ve contacted support about the problems that you are having, but as of this moment, have not heard back from them.  In the mean time, in addition to working on updates (which will hopefully be ready fairly soon), I’ve begun looking into ways that I can circumvent the problems we’re currently having with the API.
